About the Otherside Metaverse
For those new to the Otherside metaverse, it’s a gamified and interoperable virtual world developed by Yuga Labs.
Combining elements from popular MMORPGs like World of Warcraft and blockchain-based metaverses such as The Sandbox and Decentraland, Otherside offers a unique blend of gameplay experiences.
In Otherside, players can own portions of this virtual world through Otherdeed NFTs.
Furthermore, NFTs from outside the Yuga Labs ecosystem, such as Bored Apes, Mutant Apes, and CryptoPunks, can also become playable 3D characters within Otherside.
This metaverse is divided into five distinct regions, each with its own rich history, culture, and treasures.
Players can embark on quests, participate in events, and interact with other players and NPCs to uncover the metaverse’s mysteries.
Resources like Anima, Ore, Shard, and Root can be harvested from the land in Otherside, with tools scattered throughout the virtual world.
What sets Otherside apart is its commitment to interoperability, allowing developers access to open data kits (ODKs) to integrate Otherside metaverse data into their applications.
Preparing for the Otherside Adventure
To venture into the Otherside metaverse, individuals need two key elements: an Otherdeed and a Koda.
An Otherdeed is an NFT representing a piece of land in Otherside, granting access for building, exploring, and socializing with other players.
A Koda, another NFT character, can be found in select Otherdeeds. These Kodas possess unique traits and abilities, making them valuable assets that can be used as avatars in Otherside or even as playable characters in compatible games.

Both Otherdeeds and Kodas can be obtained through the secondary market or by minting them from the primary market.
The primary market may have specific requirements, such as holding particular NFTs or APE tokens.
In total, 200,000 lands are available in Otherside, with 100,000 of them reserved for contributors to the game’s development.
Meebits: Breathing Life into the Metaverse
Amidst the growing wave of 3D avatar NFT platforms, Meebits emerges as a promising venture.
Developed by the creators of CryptoPunks, Larva Labs, Meebits offers 20,000 procedurally generated 3D characters that find their home on the Ethereum blockchain.
Larva Labs envisions Meebits as avatars for virtual worlds, games, and VR, further expanding their utility beyond the digital realm.
This ambitious project follows the remarkable success of CryptoPunks, which has amassed over $550 million in lifetime sales.
Final Thoughts
As Yuga Labs continues to refine and expand Otherside, the metaverse promises a thrilling and immersive experience for players worldwide.
With each play-test, concept art reveal, and introduction of new features like Meetropolis, Otherside solidifies its position as a dynamic and evolving metaverse where the possibilities are endless.
Stay tuned for more updates and the eagerly awaited launch of Otherside’s “The Persistent World” in 2023, as the metaverse adventure continues to unfold.
