Starbucks is brewing an upcoming revolutionary Web3 experience for its reward members – Starbucks Odyssey
Starbucks Odyssey is an accessible Web3 community that provides a revolutionary experience to its partners and members. The newly integrated loyalty program is set to offer its members and partners the privilege to earn and purchase unique digital assets by completing “journeys” in the app or a web browser. Upon completion, members will be rewarded with a “journey stamp”. These journey stamps will be designed by Starbucks partners and third-party artists.
Purchasing NFTs is like ordering your favourite blueberry muffin
Members of the Odyssey program can also acquire NFTs without putting in effort in joining the journeys as Starbucks will be integrating a marketplace in its app where members can purchase their desired journey stamps or NFTs. To make it even more accessible, the multinational coffee chain states that members are not required to purchase NFTs using crypto wallets or any other forms of cryptocurrency. Purchases can be made via credit card for those who are out of the blockchain hole.
Chief marketing officer, Brady Brewer states that the program will go beyond the basic benefits that reward members have come to expect, unlocking digital, physical and experiential benefits that are of its own kind.
So, how does an environmentally conscious coffee chain like Starbucks venture into blockchain?
Starbucks will be partnering with Polygon (notably known for its proof of stake blockchain protocol) along with Forum3 to manage its crypto-based reward program. Co – founder of Polygon, Sandeep Nailwal believes that partnership is a natural choice as both companies share the same values in diversity, accessibility and sustainability.
The program was announced on the 12th of September however members can join their waiting list for a chance to be among the very first to gain access to the Starbucks Odyssey experience, launching later this year.
