Robinhood to Acquire Bitstamp in $200 Million Deal, Accelerating Global Crypto Expansion
Robinhood Markets, Inc. (“Robinhood”) has announced plans to acquire Bitstamp Ltd. (“Bitstamp”), a prominent global cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2011 with offices in Luxembourg, the UK, Slovenia, Singapore, and the US.
The acquisition, valued at approximately $200 million in cash, marks a significant move to bolster Robinhood Crypto’s international presence.
Bitstamp, renowned for its regulatory compliance with over 50 active licenses worldwide, will provide Robinhood immediate access to markets across the EU, UK, US, and Asia.
“This acquisition is a major milestone in our crypto business growth strategy,” stated Johann Kerbrat, General Manager of Robinhood Crypto.

Bitstamp, recognized as one of the longest-running and most trusted cryptocurrency exchanges globally, offers deep order books, institutional-grade trade execution, and advanced API connectivity.
Its suite of institutional services, including white label solutions and staking, will integrate with Robinhood’s platform, enhancing its crypto offerings.

Barclays Capital Inc. advised Robinhood on the transaction, while Galaxy Digital Partners LLC advised Bitstamp.
