Facing Bees Foundation Launches Honeytrail Platform to Ensure Honey Authenticity with Blockchain Technology
The Facing Bees Foundation, a Dutch non-profit promoting global biodiversity, launched Honeytrail.
This new platform tackles honey fraud by using blockchain technology to track and authenticate honey.
Funded by The Hashgraph Association, Honeytrail aims to revolutionize the beekeeping industry by ensuring transparency and ethical sourcing.
Honeytrail addresses the widespread issue of honey adulteration, where honey is diluted with sugar or water.
By partnering with HiveTracks, a beekeeping data management app, Honeytrail allows beekeepers to record hive data and honey harvests.
This information is then validated and stored on the secure Hedera Network, creating an immutable record of the honey’s origin and quality.
“Honeytrail creates a transparent and sustainable honey market,” said Milan Wiercx van Rhijn, President of Facing Bees Foundation. “This not only helps beekeepers but also builds consumer trust through blockchain technology.”
The Facing Bees Foundation sees Honeytrail as a foundation for a more trustworthy beekeeping industry.
This platform offers significant value to beekeepers producing genuine honey, supporting beekeeping’s role in healthy ecosystems. Honeytrail aims to become a key component of a future global online honey marketplace.

With HiveTracks, beekeepers submit data through the app, which Honeytrail validates and stores on the Hedera blockchain.
This decentralized system allows for easy integration with other players in the honey supply chain.
