Animoca Brands, Partners Launch Anime Foundation to Bridge Web2 and Web3 for Anime and Manga
Animoca Brands, Animoca Brands Japan, San FranTokyo, and MyAnimeList have announced their collaboration as launch partners of the Anime Foundation, a community-owned cultural protocol that spans both Web2 and Web3.
This initiative aims to create new opportunities and experiences for fans, creators, studios, IP holders, and anime and manga-inspired projects and brands worldwide.
This strategic partnership follows Animoca Brands Japan’s JPY¥300 million investment into MyAnimeList, the world’s largest anime and manga community site and database, boasting 16 million registered members.
The Anime Foundation will form a strategic alliance with Mocaverse, leveraging its interoperable infrastructure layer to launch Anime ID, a decentralized identifier (DID) and reputation layer facilitating Web3 onboarding.

The Anime Foundation will bridge the traditional anime and manga industry with Web3-native communities, enhancing fan experiences and empowering global anime and manga culture.
Anime ID will be central to this initiative, providing new monetization models and community-building initiatives based on blockchain technology.
The vision of Anime Foundation is to offer anime and manga creators more opportunities and rewards for content creation, improve distribution efficiency, and give fans greater access to exclusive content and ownership opportunities.
The launch partners are uniquely positioned to contribute to this vision, leveraging their industry networks, community engagement, and Web3 technologies.
Working with Mocaverse, Anime Foundation will enable fans to claim unique on-chain Anime IDs, allowing them to explore, contribute, and curate their anime profiles and reputation.

This interoperable infrastructure will integrate with other Realm IDs, enabling seamless user experiences across various Web3 platforms.
Anime ID users will access diverse Web3 experiences, including GameFi, SocialFi, and IP content, powered by the Moca Network. Users can also earn Realm Points, enhancing engagement and contribution.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, stated, “We are thrilled to be a launch partner of Anime Foundation, which we envision as the spearhead to champion anime culture globally. Anime Foundation has strong potential to establish itself as a major universal network of on-chain identity, experiences, and economies.
“Rather than focusing on just a few IPs or brands, the foundation will spur the development of a comprehensive and inclusive anime-verse, a Web3 powered ecosystem for on-chain anime and manga culture based on powerful network effects and digital property rights.”
