Iconic ‘Milk Edinburgh’ Meme Photo Set to Hit Ethereum NFT Auction
A widely circulated meme featuring a guy energetically explaining something to a seemingly disinterested girl at a club is set to make waves in the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as it heads to auction on Foundation, a popular NFT marketplace on the Ethereum blockchain.
Dubbed “Milk Edinburgh,” the meme derives its name from the nightclub where the candid snapshot was taken—Milk, located in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Originally circulated on the internet with the club’s watermark prominently displayed, the image has become emblematic of scenarios often characterized as “guy explaining” or “mansplaining.”
The next meme to be auctioned is "Nightclub Meme" by David Wilkinson. The reserve will start at 15 ETH, for a 3 day auction beginning at 10am BST on Monday the 22nd of April. pic.twitter.com/40gkrIUbFg

Captured in 2018 by photographer David Wilkinson, the iconic photograph is now being offered for sale as an NFT, with the assistance of pseudonymous Feisty DAO member Cryptopathic.
While Wilkinson had previously minted the image as an NFT in 2021, it remained unsold until now. Cryptopathic and Feisty DAO have graciously stepped in to facilitate the auction at no cost to the photographer.
Congrats, Achi!

On Nov. 17, 2018, Achi's owners captured him in an endearing hat on camera.
On Mar. 18, 2024, that photo, Achi, dog wif hat, became our second highest auction, collected by @GiganticRebirth for 1,210.759 ETH ($4.3m USD). pic.twitter.com/KrAeQ5WMVm
This isn’t the first time Cryptopathic and Feisty DAO have collaborated with meme creators to auction their works as NFTs.
Notably, they orchestrated the sale of the iconic Dogwifhat (WIF) meme photo for $4.1 million, as well as assisted in selling NFTs featuring Kabuso, the dog immortalized in the logo of the original dog-themed meme coin, Dogecoin (DOGE).
Scheduled to commence on Monday, April 22, at 5 a.m. ET on Foundation, the auction for the “Milk Edinburgh” NFT will start with a reserve price of 15 ETH, equivalent to approximately $47,861 at current market rates.
