Warner Records Kickstarted a Web3 Record Label
Recently, Warner Records and Web3 media group, Probably Nothing, kick-started a new Web3 record label together, namely Probably A Label.
Futuristic much, the collaboration is set to reshape the future of music by empowering artists and fans via community-based ownership!
Despite being a globally acclaimed record label, this hasn’t been the first time Warner jumping into Web3 and collaborated with Probably Nothing. Previously, it gained help from the latter to launch the Stickmen Toys project, alongside an audio company, Bose. The collection featured 5,000 audio-visual tokens that included fascinating IRL perks such as access to live events, exclusive streetwear, and priority spots for future Warner Records developments.
Universal Music Group (UMG) Launched An NFT Supergroup
November last year, Universal Music Group (UMG) announced that they would be creating a new virtual group known as KINGSHIP, under its next-gen Web3 label, 10:22PM. The NFT super group consists of three Bored Apes and one Mutant Ape, from the Bored Ape Yacht Club, one of the most successful non-fungible token (NFT) projects of all time. It’s also interesting to know that KINGSHIP shares the same manager as Snoop Dogg who himself is a serious NFT collector!
Snoop Dogg Turned the Iconic Death Row Records Into An NFT Record Label
Earlier this year, the popular American rap personality, Snoop Dogg announced to the world that he’s the new acquirer of the iconic hip-hop record label, Death Row Records. Shortly afterwards, Snoop went on to reveal that it would become an NFT music label. Despite the news, it wasn’t that much of a surprise for the music enthusiasts considering that the 50-year-old rapper has been dubbed as one of the most active musicians in Web3 with him regularly being spotted collecting non-fungible tokens (NFTs), buying virtual lands as well as dropping NFT songs and music projects. During his performance with Eminem at MTV’s 2022 Video Music Awards, they even brought their Bored Ape avatars.
Timbaland Created Ape-In Productions
In 2021, the music industry heavy-hitter and Grammy-winning producer, Timbaland became one of the most celebrated names who were responsible for adding new twists to Web3 music.
Not long after the announcement of KINGSHIP’s formation by UMG, Timbaland shared that he would be creating Ape-In Productions which develops music and animation for metaverse applications.
