The worlds of fashion and technology continue to converge as prominent figures in the tech and sports industries showcase their passion for NFTs and Web3-related products.
During the 2023 Met Gala, Reddit co-founder and investor, Alexis Ohanian made waves with his outfit. Ohanian, who attended the event with his wife, tennis superstar Serena Williams, caused a stir in the Web3 community with his Gucci tuxedo, complete with a customised brooch and cufflinks made in collaboration between Gucci and Yuga Labs.

The bespoke pieces, made from sterling silver, feature “Blue”, a character from Yuga Labs’ Otherside metaverse. Ohanian is a major investor in several NFT-related companies, including Yuga Labs, Doodles, and Moonbirds, and has previously spoken out about his support for the gaming opportunities presented by Web3.
This is not the first time Ohanian has used fashion to make a statement about NFTs. At the 2021 Met Gala, he wore a pin featuring a CryptoPunk NFT owned by Williams, while at the 2022 Academy Awards, he sported cufflinks featuring the Bored Ape Yacht Club logo.

Meanwhile, NBA superstar LeBron James is trending on social media after being spotted wearing a pair of NFT sneakers on his way to the Lakers’ victorious match against the Warriors. RTFKT x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers are part of a legendary World Merging Sneakers collection made with premium materials.
The basketball player’s NFT sneakers are particularly significant given his relationship with Nike. In 2015, James signed a lifetime endorsement deal with the sportswear giant estimated to be worth $1 billion. Nike acquired RTFKT in December 2021.

In recent photos shared by RTFKT on social media, James was seen interacting with the founder of the parent company behind the CLONE X – X TAKASHI MURAKAMI NFT series, as well as posing with a one-of-a-kind CLONE X NFT image.
Since the release of the photos where James wore the rare sneakers, the floor prices and sales of the CLONE X – X TAKASHI MURAKAMI NFT series have significantly increased, according to OpenSea.
